Brock

Founder

Brock is the co-founder of Sector81 and has over 9 years of experience in the digital/interactive space. He studied Business Management at Algonquin College where he has a major in Marketing and a minor in Law. He is responsible for growing the business and managing client relationships.

Brock is well known in the industry for his credible business development skills. He spent over 6 1/2 years with Fuel Industries where he worked directly under the CEO + President. Brock helped the company quadruple in revenue and grow from a team of 20 into a global player in digital brand advertising and entertainment with more than 120 staff and offices in Los Angeles, Seattle and Ottawa. Winning key accounts with brands such as Disney, Post, General Mills, Kraft, ABC, Paramount Pictures, Turner, Ubisoft, EA, Google and Microsoft.

Matt

Founder

Matt is the co-founder of Sector81 and brings over 13 years of business ownership experience to the team. He is responsible for managing the business side of Sector81 as well as overseeing all projects from a technical development perspective.

Matt's background is in web application development, allowing him to excel at being the link between clients and developers to ensure projects are thoroughly understood and executed perfectly. He is also the founder of MB3 INC., which created web-based software that completely automates the disaster recovery process. Matt works with FEMA and many State emergency management agencies, including clients like the State of Louisiana, Florida and California.

Joel

Interactive / Mobile Specialist

Joel has over 10 year of creative/design experience in the digital/interactive industry and is currently on the advisory board for multiple design schools and has also been accept to SoDA (Society of Digital Agency) to help create digital standards for the digital industry as a whole.

In his career Joel has worked on brands such as Kraft, Subaru, McDonald's Global, Intel, HBO, Microsoft, FedEx, Post, Nokia, Wrigley, Discovery and Fox launching multiple online initiatives to help build brand awareness for their audiences. Joel is recognized as one of Canada's leading Directors in Digital content by FITC and has lead many projects to industry awards such as FITC, MAX, Davey's, DMA, Flash Forward, FWA, Webby, Andy, Buzz, LIA, Billboard, and Cannes.

Ram

Interactive Specialist

Ram has over a decade of design and social gaming experience with hits ranging from websites with eighteen minute average engagement times to two of the highest grossing social games on the iOS App Store. Additionally his work has helped win twelve industry awards (Billboard, FITC, etc.), FWA Site Of The Day, and two features in Applied Arts magazine. His dual strengths in design and illustration lend well to iconography and logo-making – especially in youth-focused markets. He has experience in creating and implementing art assets for the web, Facebook, Apple's iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod), and Google's Android platforms, as well as several other proprietary digital formats.

In addition to hands-on work, Ram also has experience as a Senior Art Director, helping forge brave new paths for clients including McDonald's, Microsoft, Kellogg's, General Mills, and FOX Entertainment. Ram is keenly aware of not just the "how" of design, branding and marketing but also the "why", getting his hands on just about every business and marketing material he can find so that the work is meaningful and measurable in addition to beautiful.

Brian

Mobile / Gaming Specialist

Brian has always been pushing the limits of emerging markets in the industry and loves that he gets to keep playing around with new gadgets all the time. Brian started his career building web-based games and advergames, he also helped establish the casual games industry, and most recently has been entrenched in the hyper-volatile iPhone game space.

Brian is a tireless contributor to the games industry, primarily through his work with the IGDA where he has chaired and co-founded SIGs, promoted local game development community, written numerous white papers and won the IGDA MVP award for his efforts. He is currently chair of the IGDA Board of Directors and a Trustee of the IGDA Foundation.

Brian has programmed over 100 games and still digs into code whenever he gets a chance. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences giving talks on a wide range of topics. He lives in Aurora, CO with his loving wife and beautiful daughter.

Mike

Mobile / Gaming Specialist

Mike (a.k.a. Monty) has over 10 years experience in the industry. He started out his career building web-based games and advergames before making the transition to mobile.

Mike has always had a strong focus on the gaming industry and has also worked on many web campaigns for companies such as Activision, EA, Eidos, Square Enix, Bandai etc..

Mike has been the lead Art/Creative Director on many games and takes great pride on quality. He is known for being a detail freak, which he feels is an important part of making great games. This has lead to many industry awards including Best Canadian Designer and multiple FWA awards.

Mike is also a college professor. He has spent the last 3 years teaching design for web and mobile at the college level.

Jess

Illustration / Animation Specialist

Jessica is an Illustrator, and Animation Director that has been working in the Industry for the last 9 years.Trained first in Animation and Film, Jessica has also spent years working in the Adver-gaming world. In 2010 Algonquin College inducted her in the Media and Arts Hall of fame for her outstanding contributions to the North American animation industry.

Jessica has had the pleasure to work with clients such as Mcdonads and Wrigley in the Adver-gaming industry. As an Animation Art director she has worked for such names as Nickelodeon,Techincolor and Warner Brothers. In 2008 Jessica was chosen by Warner Brothers to give the Looney Tunes franchise a facelift. The job included redesigning the entire looney tunes cast. She worked for a year as lead character designer on the hit show, and then went on to to Artistically direct all the Merrie Melodies for season 2. She is fluent in the art of film making and also in traditional Illustration. She has created a couple short films of her own which have given her alot of attention in the animation community. In 2007 her film " I lIke Pandas" was awarded Flash Film of the Year by channel Frederator. Jessica has the ability to take on many styles of animation and Illustration which has opened the doors for many different types of clients and projects.

Ghislain

3D / Technical Specialist

Ghislain brings an advanced knowledge to the art production cycle with over 8 years in the digital/interactive space. His experience has quickly escalated him to the director level where he is responsible for managing and coordinating 3D art/animation assets and resources. He also plays a major role in contributing to the artistic vision of a project by providing the production team with proper direction in the creation of 3D characters and environments.

Ghislain has worked on multiple platforms such as: mobile, online/web, PC and console games. More recently, his experience in the Animation industry has given him the opportunity to work on animated television series for Disney, furthering his skill set and enabling him to be proficient in both gaming and animation environments.

Pat

Motion Graphics / Visual Effects Specialist

Pat brings over 13 years experience working in the video game, film, video and animation industry.

A graduate from the Classical Animation program at Algonquin College, Pat has been involved in all aspect of storytelling from conceptual ideation to on-set production supervision to post production polish. He's been frequently invited as a speaker on his involvements in multiple award winning short films as well as music videos.

In his career, Pat has worked alongside world famous directors and action stars on numerous feature films. On the commercial video side he's been involved with brands such as Mazda, Subaru, Nokia, Intel, McDonald's, Fox, HBO, Microsoft, Eidos, Discovery Channel, Hasbro, Sony, Rogers, Canadian Ministry of Health, Canada Post and many more.

Will

Director / Editing Specialist

Will graduated with honors from Vancouver Film School, where he majored in directing and editing. He started his career working in post-production for feature films, and quickly moved on to creative consulting and directing for a variety of platforms.

Will has over 8 years experience in the multimedia industry. He has directed and edited commercials, music videos, fashion films, short films, web and television series. Will has collaborated with brands such as Sony, 20th Century Fox, McDonald's, Microsoft, Subaru, The Ottawa Senators, CBC, Radio-Canada and The National Film Board.

Jean-Sylvain

Gaming Specialist

Jean-Sylvain has been a part of the gaming industry since 2001. He graduated from Polytechnic School of Montreal with a degree in Computer Engineering.

He started working at Behaviour as an AI Programmer on console titles. In 2004, he was promoted to Team Lead and by the end of that year, joined Ubisoft to work on various titles including King Kong and the Far Cry series. In 2007, he moved to Ottawa where he worked as Director of Technology at Fuel Games. There, he contributed to the development of multiple PC titles.

In addition to being the chair of the IGDA Ottawa Chapter, Jean-Sylvain has been teaching programming at Carleton University since 2008.

Jon

Technical Development Specialist

Jon has been working in the industry for over 5 years with a wide range of experience. From big corporate to fast paced agencies, Jon excels both in the technical and operations aspect of every challenge. He specializes in designing and architecting large scalable/maintainable technical projects while managing a team of developers to finish on time with world class quality.

Communication and discipline are his forte enabling everyone on the project to understand the big picture and how the pieces come together to make the whole. On top of his management role, Jon hasn't left the world of development behind and is easily able to jump directly into the code with Flash, HTML5, HaXe and C++ to name a few. With a passion for pursuing the latest and greatest in industry trends and technology, Jon ensures that the technical solution enhances the project rather than just enabling it. Notable clients include Blackberry RIM, Kraft, McDonalds, PlayFirst Games and Electronic Arts with work that has gone on to win many awards such as FWA’s, Davey's, Webby's and Cannes.

Paul

Technical / Development Specialist.

Paul has been working as a developer in the interactive industry for over 5 years. He has worked as the lead developer on projects for brands such as Intel, 20th Century Fox, Sprint, Subaru, McDonalds and many more. During his career he has gained experience in developing for multiple platforms across mobile devices, online/web, games and interactive installations. Paul also teaches courses on interaction design and development at the college level.

Paul is equally adept at laying the foundation for large scale long term projects or delivering a polished, high quality solution under tight timelines. His interest in emerging technologies keeps him at the forefront of computer science while his pragmatism means he always uses the right tool for the job.

Charles

Digital Marketing Specialist

Charles started his career in marketing-communications twenty years ago. After working through school in TV commercial production, he joined Young & Rubicam Advertising and became the agency's first Multi-Media Producer, specializing in creating and crossing broadcast, interactive and cinema advertising (working with clients such as Sears, Colgate-Palmolive, Kraft, Cadbury-Schweppes, AT&T and Ford).

Charles later joined Rogers Communications to help to oversee the launch of a subsidiary, Rogers Productions. He went on to lead sales and marketing initiatives with US and Canadian media-arts companies (such as ABC, Bell, and the Washington Ballet).

Motivated to get closer to the shift that the industry was taking into the emerging digital space, Charles now specializes in branded entertainment and social media, where he has overseen projects for some large corporations and associations.

Aaron

Product Development Specialist

Aaron is a web development ninja with over 7 years of experience and a keen eye for design and usability. He is an expert in both Front-end and Server-side development, and prides himself on pushing the limits of the latest Internet technologies.

Aaron has worked as the development lead on many projects for high profile clients such as Snapple, Crush, Level-5, Mott's, Sega, Coors Light, SceneIt and Microsoft. In his spare time he also works on his own web applications where he tests new technologies and techniques. With his well rounded set of skills, Aaron executes on every project from start to finish and consistently delivers the best possible product.
